Current Facts
Miners lettuce sprouts most commonly in the spring. It prefers cool, damp conditions. It first appears in sunlit areas after the first heavy rains. The most prevalent abound in shaded areas, especially in the uplands, into the early summer. Much like most lettuce varieties, when summer heats up so does the lettuce, finding its leaves red and dried out in extreme heat conditions.
Description/Taste
Unlike wild Miners Lettuce, the hydroponic variety has a milder sweeter flavor than its more bitter counterpart. Its stems are thin, crunchy and equally edible as the tender leaves.
