Description/Taste
Turmeric is botanically known as, Curcuma aromatica and is the root of the plant. This plant is considered sterile, because it does not produce any seeds. The root has a tough brown outer skin and a bright orange flesh. The flavor of Turmeric can be described as warm with a bitter flavor that is similar to ginger. Ground Turmeric has a bright orange color and is sometimes referred to as “yellow ginger” and “Indian saffron.”
