Fresh frozen wild Elderberries are small, round black-blue berries with a sweet-tart yet earthy flavor. For centuries elderberries have been used in folk medicine across the world due to their high levels of anthocyanins, flavonoids, iron, potassium and Vitamins A & C. Elderberries are a high allergen and it is not recommended that they be eaten raw, but cooking the berries lessens this risk as well as enhances their flavor. Elderberries go extremely well in wines, jams, syrups and pies.
