Description/Taste
Tokyo Negi onions are medium to large in size and have elongated, straight, and bulbous bases that fan out into thick leaves, similar in appearance to a cross between leeks and green onions. The green leaves are hollow, tubular, smooth, and crisp with a somewhat tough texture when raw. The white base is typically the longest portion of the onion and is crunchy, firm, and juicy, remaining narrow and never forming an actual bulb. Tokyo Negi onions are pungent when raw and develop a sweet and savory flavor when cooked.
