Description/Taste
The pineapple is native to South America and was first discovered by Christopher Columbus on the island of Guadeloupe in 1493. He gave this fruit the name pina de Indes meaning "pine of the Indians." Pineapple chunks have a juicy sweet flavor and pairs well with seafood, poultry and pork dishes. The sweet flavor of pineapple is a favorite to use in desserts.
