Description/Taste
Pinto beans have a cream colored exterior that is speckled with reddish brown strips. The word "pinto" originates from the Spanish word "pintar" which means to paint and is given this name because of its unique outer shell. Once cooked Pinto beans become a solid light red to pink color and offer a high amount of protein and vitamins. Pinto beans are commonly eaten with cornbread and can be added to soups, stews and many other dishes.
