Description/Taste
Rose petals are available in an assortment of different shades including orange, pink, white, yellow and red. The delicate petals are rounded towards the end and come to a point. They range in size and become gradually smaller towards the center of the bloom. Rose petals are highly aromatic and may be described as similar to a basket of fruits, lemon, nasturtium or cloves. Just like its colors the flavors can also vary depending on the variety and can be sweet, spicy or tart.

Add chopped rose petals to butter and soft cheeses for an attractive rose infused spread. Freeze flowers into ice cubes to be used in cocktails and lemonade. Not only used for culinary preparations, rose petals were at one time used as a perfume and to sweeten the breath.
Geography/History
Roses are believed to have originated in Asia millions of years ago, and were first cultivated for the garden in China around 500 B.C. Their popularity as a garden variety flower spread quickly across the Northern Hemisphere.
