Each leaf has a slightly curved, twisted, and curled appearance, contributing to the green's frilly, fern-like nature. The bright green leaves are long and cylindrical, tapering to a point at the tip, and have a smooth, pliable, and delicate feel. Micro Carrot Fern Leaf™ has a crisp and refreshing, succulent mouthfeel with a tender consistency. Micro Carrot Fern Leaf™ is a modern-day garnish favored by chefs for its delicate aesthetic and frilly, lightweight appearance. The slender microgreens are a twist on classic carrot foliage, which was historically a choice fashion statement for London residents. Carrots were widely grown in home gardens throughout London during the Elizabethan period in 1533, and the roots were also sown in commercial market gardens as an everyday vegetable. Both the roots and the carrot tops were considered commercially relevant crops. After the Elizabethan period, the city of London lived under the reign of King James the 1st, and carrot tops transformed from an edible ingredient to a choice fashion statement. Fruits, leaves, feathers, and flowers all became staples in decorative fashion. The frilly carrot greens resembled bird feathers, and many ladies of the English court would fasten the greens to their hats, onto their clothing, or pin the leaves into their hair.
