Description/Taste
Kaiser Franz Joseph apples are distinctive from other varieties because of their very prominent ribbing and bright green skin. The skin of this variety also has some bright orange-red blushing. The Kaiser Franz Joseph apple is similar to the Calville Blanc d’Hiver, although the latter is smaller and brighter yellow. The white-yellow flesh is fairly juicy, with a sweet and intensely fruity taste lending well to eating Kaiser Franz Joseph fresh out of hand. The tree is of medium vigor and crops well, producing many fruits.
Seasons/Availability
Kaiser Franz Joseph apples are available in the fall through winter.
Current Facts

He was the uncle of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination led to the start of World War I.
