Berries - Strawberry - Cultivation
Strawberry plants can survive in many conditions and prefer full sun and sandy, slightly acidic soil with some fertilizer. Strawberries need moisture when growing and should be kept on the plant until ripe because they will not continue to ripen once picked. They are relatively hardy plants, but care needs to be taken to protect them from snails and slugs. Strawberries should be planted in the late spring or summer and will begin bearing fruit approximately one year after planting. Strawberries are available year-round, depending on the variety, with peak season in the summer.
