Description/Taste
J.R. Organics is a family-owned and operated farm located in San Diego County. The farm was established in the 1950s and has been certified organic since 1986. The fertile land of Valley Center, California, combined with sustainable farming practices, produces a wide variety of flavorful fruits and vegetables. J.R. Organics Gaviota strawberries are bright red and conical in shape. The strawberry's thin exterior skin is a pale yellow-green and transitions to a characteristic glossy red as it matures. Gaviota strawberries are low in acid with a high sugar content, giving this berry an extremely sweet flavor.

Gaviota strawberries are available in the spring and summer months.
Current Facts
Gaviota strawberries are botanically known as Fragaria ananassa and are members of the Rosaceae family. They are not actually a true berry, but rather a greatly enlarged stem end of the plant's flower. Due to its susceptible to bruising, Gaviota strawberries can only be found at local farmers markets or speciality stores.
