Description/Taste
Meiwa kumquats are produced on an evergreen tree or shrub and are botanically known as Fortunella crassifolia. The Meiwa kumquats have an oblong or oval shape and a smooth orange outer skin. The outer skin of the Meiwa kumquat is extremely aromatic and has a sweet flavor. Meiwa kumquat's inner flesh has a juicy consistency, while presenting a sweet-tart flavor.

Best eaten fresh, they can also be cooked into purees and sauces.
Geography/History
Locally grown, Garcia Organic Farms has been providing the marketplace with outstanding fruit since 1985. Native to Japan, Meiwa kumquats are favored for their fantastic flavor. The plants are not as prolific or as high yielding as the Nagami kumquat variety which are notably much more vigorous and produce a greater volume of fruit.
