Current Facts
Micro Merlot Mix™ are tiny, edible trademarked greens that are a part of a line of specialty greens grown by Fresh Origins Farm, the leading national producer of both common and unique microgreens, located in San Diego, California. Using a unique blend of greens including Hearts on Fire™, Shiso Red, Spinach Burgundy™, Bull’s Blood, Radish Ruby™, and other microgreens, Micro Merlot Mix™ greens are harvested 14-25 days after sowing and are used by chefs as a garnish to elevate the dining experience, adding unusual colors, textures, and flavors to savory culinary dishes.
Nutritional Value
Micro Merlot Mix™ contains vitamins A, C, and K, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium.
Applications
Micro Merlot Mix™ greens are best suited for raw applications as their tender and delicate nature cannot withstand high heat preparations. The greens are most commonly utilized as a garnish to enhance the flavor and visual appeal of savory dishes and are sprinkled over soups, stews, salads, cooked meats, vegetable side dishes, layered in sandwiches, or mixed into pasta. The greens can also be individually placed on main courses as edible decorations to create artistic and visually stunning dishes, or they can be used as a bed of greens for tender fish and seafood. Micro Merlot Mix™ greens pair well with vegetables such as fennel, asparagus, green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli, squash, beets, herbs such as mint, basil, coriander, and oregano, nuts such as pine nuts, pecans, and almonds, and meats such as poultry, lamb, beef, pork, and fish. Micro Merlot Mix™ will keep 5-7 days when stored unwashed, in a sealed container, and in the refrigerator.
