Pea flowers are comprised of one to two blossoms attached to a hollow stem, hanging down in a bell shape. The blossoms come in a variety of colors, including white, yellow, fuchsia, lavender, and deep purple, and feature two deeply veined petals creating a hood over two smaller and more delicate petals that close around the flower's stamen. Pea flowers emit a light, fresh aroma and have a crisp, slightly crunchy consistency. The blossoms also contain green and nutty flavors mixed with a mild sweetness and a faintly bitter minerality giving the petals a refreshing and vegetal quality.
