Her Produce is a multi-generational family farm in Fresno, California, growing a variety of vegetables and specialty fruits. Leeks are large members of the onion family that grow straight up from the ground in a long, cylindrical pattern. Leeks are comprised of layers of succulent leaves. The bottom portion of the plant is buried beneath the soil as it grows to limit chlorophyll production. This results in light coloring and a less bitter flavor. Her Produce Leeks have a mild, onion-like flavor with a slight sweetness.

Leeks are a member of the Amaryllidaceae family.They have been grown and used for cooking for more than 3,000 years in Asia and Europe and are believed to be native to the Mediterranean area. Leeks are even the national vegetable of Wales.
