Lemongrass is botanically known as Cymbopogon citrus and is a part of the Poaceae family. Lemongrass is a tall perennial grass, native to Sri Lanka and South India. Lemongrass has been commonly used for centuries for therapeutic treatments. Lemongrass is easily propagated and is frequently found as an essential oil.

Lemongrass essential oil is extracted for tis high vitamin A content and used in teas and soups. Natural medicinal properties make lemongrass useful and a favorite in Ayurvedic medicine.
