Description/Taste
Chiogga beets have a deep pink coloring of the outside skin with circular candy-stripes, alternating pink and white, on the inside. Chioggia beets inherently contain the highest content of geosmin, an organic compound which gives them a deep earthy flavor and aroma. Cooked Chioggia beets will not retain their brilliant coloring, rather fade to paler versions of their original colors.
Seasons/Availability
Chioggia beets are available year-round with peak season occurring mid-summer through the late fall months.
