Description/Taste
Sweet and crisp, Green Gem lettuce is actually a small size of romaine. Although it is full grown, this specialty romaine variety is about half the size of regular romaine boasting succulent rich green leaves that measure about five inches in length and about three inches in width. Having a pale green heart and offering an even crisper center and sweeter taste than common lettuce, Green Gem lettuce never develops a bitter flavor.
Applications
Vibrant green, this colorful and lettuce adds crunch and flavor to mixed green fresh salads. Ideal side salad served on its own.To store, refrigerate in a plastic bag or in a lettuce keeper. Use within one week for optimum quality, color and flavor.
Geography/History
Native to Spain, this lovely lettuce is locally grown at Coleman Farms, Carpinteria, California.
