Description/Taste
This variety from Penryn Orchard is pear shaped with a thin greenish yellow skin speckled with brown spots. Its crisp and juicy white flesh has a subtly sweet and mild flavor.

The Asian pear is known by many names which include Nashi, Japanese pears, sand pears, pear apples or Chinese pears. Unlike regular pears, Asian pears are non climatic meaning they won't continue to ripen after picking and will maintain their firm and crisp texture long after picking and storage.
Nutritional Value
Pears provide a good source of vitamin C and also contain a fair amount of dietary fiber. A six ounce serving contains about 100 calories and 25 grams of carbohydrates.
Applications
Delicious enjoyed fresh in salads, on a cheese board or out of hand for a snack. Try baking or sauteing slices and serving along side an entree. Makes a wonderful sauce or jam when slow cooked. Perfectly ripe at purchase, Asian pears will keep refrigerated for at least one month.
