Description/Taste
A relatively new tangerine variety, this successful blend of the grapefruit, orange and temple orange creates a delicious highly flavored fruit that offers a special sweet taste. A vibrant gold to dark orange, this medium to large flat tangerine's thin skin peels easily to reveal its tender juicy sections.
Seasons/Availability
Fall-Glo Tangerines begin the citrus season in October or November and are available through spring.
Nutritional Value
Tangerines offer an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin C.
Applications
Tangerines love to accompany all kinds of meats, seafood and poultry dishes. Add to a spinach salad for a touch of sweetness and color. To store, keep refrigerated.
Geography/History
Developed in 1962 and combining the better of two tasty worlds, this fruit is a cross between a temple orange and a tangelo. Kicking off the winter citrus season, Fall-Glo tangerines thrive in the warm sunshine of Florida where sixty per cent of the nation's tangerine supply is grown.
