Description/Taste
Originating in the village of Gruyeres, Switzerland this cheese is produced from raw cow’s milk. Typically aged for a minimum of 5 months, Swiss Gruyere cheese can be described as being nutty as well as fruity. It is a semi-soft cheese with a hard dark brown rind and has small holes, giving it a grainy texture. Found often in fondue recipes, Gruyere cheese is excellent for melting, in quiche and chicken Cordon Bleu.
