Japanese Sprouting cauliflowers are small long shoots with little white clusters on the very top. Unlike, regular cauliflower these have more stalk and less white florets. Its flavor is much like full grown cauliflower but slightly sweeter with a nutty undertone.

Japanese Sprouting cauliflower is a cool season biennial botanically known as Brassica oleracea var. botytis. Also known as Sweet Sprouting cauliflower and Karifurore in Japanese, this variety is a broccoli hybrid developed by Tokita Seed Company. Japanese Sprouting cauliflower is grown similar to traditional cauliflower, but its florets are allowed to mature so that their stems may grow.
