Red carrots have the same cylindrical shape and size characteristic of carrots. They can grow up to 18 centimeters in length and about 2 centimeters in diameter. Red carrots contain high levels of lycopene, which gives its skin and most of its flesh its red color. responsible for its yellow skin and flesh. Each plant in this family has the umbrella-like flower clusters that characterize this family of plants. Red, purple, yellow and white carrots were cultivated long before the appearance of the now popular orange carrot. Red carrots contain the pigment known as lycopene which has been associated with the prevention of several cancers and heart disease.
