Apple - Pippin - Storage
Pippin apples will keep up to six months when stored whole in a cold, semi-humid, and dark place. If storing many apples, space each fruit far enough apart where they do not touch the others for optimum storage life. It is recommended to keep the fruits in a cold place such as a root cellar, but Pippin apples can also be kept in the refrigerator for a shorter period of time. Apples do not ripen after picking but do go through a curing process in the refrigerator. This process converts starches into sugar making the apple’s flavor sweeter.
