Current Facts
IFG Thirty-Seven grapes are a new hybrid that was created by International Fruit Genetics, also known as IFG. Released in 2018, IFG Thirty-Seven grapes are a unique finger grape variety that is packed with distinct flavors in an unusual, elongated shape. The genealogy of IFG Thirty-Seven remains proprietary to IFG, but the release of this variety contributes to a new era of table grapes that have more than just the mild, traditional grape flavor. IFG Thirty-Seven grapes are designed to be consumed as a sweet table grape and were created naturally without the use of additives or genetically modified organisms, or GMO.
Nutritional Value
Grapes are a source of vitamins A, C, K, and the heart-healthy phytonutrient, resveratrol.
Applications
IFG Thirty-Seven grapes are best suited for raw applications as they were created to be a table grape consumed fresh, out of hand. The unique muscat flavor provides a hint of sweetness and can be served chilled or mixed in with fruit or green salads. Their elongated shape can also be sliced lengthwise and served with cheeses and spreads to create an unusual bite-sized appetizer. IFG Thirty-Seven grapes pair well with salty nuts, soft cheeses, leafy greens, and both sweet and savory dishes.
Ethnic/Cultural Info
Partnerships like the one between Murray Family Farms and International Fruit Genetics, IFG, are paving the way for the creation of new varieties using experimental and innovative growing techniques to meet changing consumer demand. IFG uses traditional breeding techniques mixed with a unique process known as embryo rescue, which is a procedure that involves pollinating an emasculated flower and growing the immature seed in a test tube with specialized materials. This highly focused technique allows for the most desirable traits to be chosen to make new varieties suitable for market introduction. Murray Family Farms also has an extensive history of developing experimental growing techniques which complement IFG's processes and creates a unique and successful partnership.
