Description/Taste
This heirloom cherry tomato assortment offers a variety of colors and shapes, from elongated to round to plum. Colors may vary from nearly garnet-red to pure white to yellow-gold. Varieties \include the Snow White cherry tomatoes, an eye-catching ivory-colored fruit, orange Sungolds, and red Fox and Chadwicks. There are also black and brown cherry varieties. The black and browns don't have the most distinctive flavor but have great colors. The Chadwick is a slightly larger red cherry tomato and has a nice sweet flavor. The Fox also is sweet. Heirloom cherry tomatoes can grow to the size of a golf ball.

Applications
Created for salads, heirloom cherry tomatoes just need to be rinsed and enjoyed. Cut ivory-colored cherry tomatoes in half to reveal their pearly interior. A perfect addition for healthy vegetable trays or as a garnish. For pasta, cook down the cherry tomatoes just until they burst. Shave some fine cheese over it. Add to a chunky gazpacho. Create a tomato relish using fresh basil, chopped red onion, diced jalapeno, minced garlic, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Poach cherry tomatoes in olive oil on the vine, cut off the vine but leave the stem and finish on fish.

Various governments around the world have created about 120 seed banks that preserve the genetic material, or germplasm, of important food crops, heirloom tomatoes being a significant category in the banks. Private seed trusts are now keeping old strains alive.
