Description/Taste
Petite® Red Amaranth is small in size, measuring approximately 3 to 5 centimeters in length, and is comprised of ovate-shaped leaves with smooth edges that taper to a point at the non-stem end. The leaves have a distinct netlike veining and vary in color from deep burgundy to plum, with hues of bright magenta on the underside of each leaf. Petite® Red Amaranth is crisp, tender, and mildly sweet with earthy and grassy notes, finishing with a mild corn taste.

Very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Folate, and dietary minerals including Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc, Copper and Manganese, protein, and energy. Anthocynins, which are antioxidant flavonoids that protect many body systems, are present in this plant, are believed to help fight against cancer. The amaranth plant produces nutritious edible seeds that contain a high concentration of protein.
