For best flavor and texture refrigerate ripe and cut melons at 45-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Use care when storing this melon, keeping Ruby Bliss™ watermelons too close to ethylene producing fruits such as bananas, pears, tomatoes and apples will shorten their shelf life.
Geography/History
The Ruby Bliss™ watermelon was initially bred by Syngenta specifically for Dulcinea Farms as a means to provide a watermelon with increased levels of naturally occurring antioxidants, which give the fruit its rich red color. The melon grows best in the summer months in a hot and dry climate and requires well drained soils. Since the melons are grown in both the northern and southern hemispheres they have year-round summer growing conditions. International export and import allows these sweet watermelons to be enjoyed no matter the season, even in the middle of winter.
