Red Butter Salanova® lettuce have round bases with three times the amount of leaves than the standard head of lettuce, all growing in a rosette pattern. The “triple heads” as they are sometimes called, are made up of uniformly sized leaves growing from a uniquely structured core. Salanova® lettuces are given the chance to develop full flavor and texture profiles, as they are harvested when fully mature. They have a soft, buttery texture with a mild sweet flavor.

Current Facts
Salanova® lettuce is a full-sized variety developed for the baby lettuce market. Botanically these varieties are scientifically known as Lactuca sativa. They are sometimes referred to as Eazyleaf and Multileaf lettuce for its ease of harvest and compacted heads. The lettuce varieties are marketed as “one-cut and ready” and the developer has even partnered with a gadget maker to create a special Salanova® corer. Salanova® lettuces come in butterleaf, incised sweet crisp (frill), and oak leaf varieties.
