Applications
This is a multipurpose fruit, as it can be eaten fresh or even cooked in traditional ways, well suited for cobblers and pies. It makes for a perfect accompaniment to pork and poultry. You can even grill it on the barbecue. The process for grilled/barbecued peaches is halve the fruit, remove the pit and place cut side down on a Hot grill which has been scrubbed and coated with cooking oil. After a few minutes, turn fruit with cut side up and dribble a little balsamic on the cut edge.
Geography/History
First Lady Peaches were the first peach to be grown in the San Joaquin Valley in Reedley, CA, known as the Tree Fruit Capital of the World. They were also one of the first varieties to be successfully developed outside of desert regions.
