Japanese Red bell peppers are sweet with a slightly bitter after taste.
Seasons/Availability
Japanese Red bell peppers are available in the summer and fall.
Current Facts
Japanese Red bell peppers are known locally in Japan as “piman” and look quite similar to their larger, more common cousins. This small sweet pepper variety of Capsicum annuum has found its way to the US and is being marketed in limited areas. The peppers may also be picked when unripe for the green varieties, which are not as sweet as the red varieties.
