Peach Tomatoes
Estimated Inventory, pt : 0
Description/Taste
The unusual peach tomato no doubt gets its name due to its rather "tacky" or "fuzzy" feel to its surface reminiscent to that of a small peach. A very interesting novelty variety, the texture is somewhat comparable to a nectarine. Its addicting richly sweet delicious flavor has a citrus edge. Growing in clusters and not a true conformist, this unpredictable small yellow tomato varies considerably year to year.

Applications
Serve on its own or add its unusual appearance, texture and taste tossed in mixed green salads. Perfect tomato for fresh eating. Use as edible garnish for open face sandwiches and pita bread specialties. Stuff for a tasty appetizer. To store, keep tomatoes at room temperature for optimum flavor. Chilling diminishes a tomato's flavor.
Geography/History
Locally grown in California at the renowned Munak Ranch, the origin of this unusual heirloom tomato variety that is oddly covered with a fuzzy skin and somewhat resembles a small peach or nectarine is uncertain. Heirloom varieties sometimes have a known history and a certain date they were introduced but more often than not, these wonderful old varieties have only a folk history and a probable beginning. Old commercial seed lists or early writers may be the only sources to possibly help in finding where delicious heirloom tomatoes first awed taste buds. Unfortunately, much of their history is sadly very limited but with new interest in these tasty old vegetables more information will hopefully be uncovered so that we may be deliciously enlightened. Specialty Produce proudly promotes and strongly supports our local ranchers, growers, farmers and the California farming industry.
