Description/Taste
Tomatillos are similar in shape to a tomato although rounder with a generally smaller diameter when ripe Tomatillos are enclosed in a dry parchment-light green or tan paper wrapper-like husk, or calyx, that is removed before consuming or processing. Tomatillos are typically green in color and will continue to yellow as they ripen. This fruit has a thick skin that surrounds an almost sponge-like, seed dapple, bright green interior. Although similar in appearance to tomatoes, tomatillos are sweet and tart with underlying savory, citrus, and granny smith apple tasting notes.
