The Candy Crisp® apple is a large ribbed dessert apple with golden skin that is often blushed soft pink with white lenticels. It is shaped like a red delicious apple with the top wider than the bottom and knobs on its flooring. The Candy Crisp® apple lives up to its name being firm, juicy, and sweet. Some have described the Candy Crisp® apple as having pear taste and scent and lacking in apple flavor.

The Candy Crisp® apple is from the species Malus Domestica. The Candy Crisp® apple tree was a chance seedling discovered in a red delicious orchard in New York and therefore thought to be a descendent of the red delicious apple. There are two sizes of Candy Crisp® apple trees: dwarf or semi dwarf.
