Flavorosa pluots are medium sized stonefruits, averaging in diameter from 2 to 2 ½ inches. Globular in shape, very nearly round. This late harvest variety has deep maroon colored, medium thick skin. Flavor Fall pluots have a golden colored, firm, juicy flesh, with a very mild aroma, complementing an appealing, balanced sweet and tart flavor.
Flavorosa pluots are available from spring into fall.
Flavorosa pluots are a hybrid between the apricot and plum. Pluots were developed in the late 20th century by Floyd Zaiger. Zaiger bred the plumcot with a plum to create the pluot, which is three-fifths plum and two-fifths apricot.
